According to our Undergraduate Catalog, students must develop Computer Technology Competency as one of the General Education Requirements.
As an entering student, you must complete the following three parts of mandatory technology training.
In parts one and two you will activate and learn to manage your:
NetID
- You will need this to sign up for advising and registration and to access your HuskyMail and other secure UConn sites.
- You should have received a letter from the University Information Technology Services (UTIS) explaining how to set up your NetID and password.
- That letter contained a unique activation code
- If you have not received this information, you should call UITS Help Center at (860) 486-4357 Mon-Fri 8 a.m. to 5 p. m.

HuskyMail e-mail
- Most official information—updates on your bills, financial aid, and academic standing—will be sent via email.
- For confidentiality, UConn only communicates with you via your HuskyMail email address
- Access your HuskyMail now and check it daily.

Student Administration System accounts
- You will use this account to access your academic, financial, and personal information—and to enroll in classes.

You should become familiar with these technologies, and be able to access the services they provide, prior to attending an advising and registration session.
Part three will provide access to additional online services and tools that you will use as a UConn student:
On-line course tools that are used in many University classes
Your personal e-portfolio to track your academic, personal, and career goals
Tutorials that will help you master basic computer applications.
