  • Who is my advisor?

    • Your advisor's name is within your PeopleSoft account. To access this information, follow these steps:

      - Go to http://www.studentadmin.uconn.edu
      - Enter your PeopleSoft Login ID and Password
      - Once the page loads, click on SA Self Service
      - Then click on Learner Services
      - Then click on Academics
      - Finally, click on View My Advisor

      [PLEASE NOTE: All advisor assignments will be entered approximately 5 weeks into the semester]

  • How do I find out my enrollment appointment time?

    • Your enrollment appointment time is within your PeopleSoft account. To access this information, follow these steps:

      - Go to http://www.studentadmin.uconn.edu
      - Enter your PeopleSoft Login ID and Password
      - Once the page loads, click on SA Self Service
      - Then click on Learner Services
      - Then click on Academics
      - Finally, click on View Enrollment Appointment

  • When does advising begin for the fall and spring semester?

    • See your advisor whenever the need arises, however you should see your advisor prior to registering for courses.

      Each semester the registrar sets the exact date to begin registration. Approximate dates that registration begins are as follows:

      - For Fall: April 1
      - For Spring: November 1

  • Are there any other important dates to know?

    • There are many important dates to know when it comes down to adding, dropping or completing courses throughout the semester. Below are some of the following
      important dates.

      For Fall 2005:

      - Mon. Aug. 29
      • Classes begin
    • -Mon. Sept. 12
      • Courses dropped after this date will have a "W" for withdrawal recorded on the academic record
      •Last day to add/drop courses without additional signatures (See Adding/Dropping courses in the Academic Regulations section of the Undergraduate
      Catalog)
      • Last day to place courses on Pass/Fail
      • Add/drop via the Student Administration System closes
    • -Mon. Sept. 19
      •Last day to convert Incomplete or Absence grades

      -Mon. Oct. 31
      •Last day to drop a course

      -Fri. Dec. 9
      •Last day of fall semester classes

  • How should I prepare before meeting with my advisor?

    • If you are an incoming student, you need to do the following;

      -First and foremost, please read the packet that you recieved after payment of your $150 deposit fee. Complete all the information inside and bring it with you to your advising appointment.

      -Make sure that the university has all records of any...
      •previous college-level courses offered in high school, other than the University of Connecticut High school Co-op Program;
      •courses taken for academic credit at any college or university on a part-time, non-matriculated basis (9 credits or less per semester);
      •"A" Level Exams or the equivalent given in European and other foriegn countries;
      •courses offered through Military Service schools, e.g. those appearing on a DD214 or DD295 form;
      •Advance Placement (AP) Exams of the College Board.

      [Note: If you do not recieve notice prior to the start of classes concerning the transfer of Advance Placement credits, please contact the Transfer Admissions Office at (860) 486-3137.]

      -Gain some familiarity with your degree requirements and find out what courses are offered this semester by visiting the websites below.

      •In addition to Gen Ed Requirements what would I need to complete a particular major?

      •Courses that are being offered currently?

      Click on "Class Schedule" below the log on space. You do not have to log on to look at the Spring schedule of classes.
      -Make note of your own interests, questions, and long-term plans and bring this to the advising appointment.

      -Let us know if you are unable to keep your appointment and we can reschedule.

      NOTE: For transfer students, if you are transfering credits to the University of Connecticut, please bring a course equivalency sheet with you. This will inform your advisor what kind of classes you should be placed in.

      If you are already attending UConn as a degree student, you need to do the following:

      -Print your Unofficial Transcript and bring it with you to your appointment. •Go to http://www.studentadmin.uconn.edu
      •Enter your PeopleSoft Login ID and Password
      •Once the page loads, click on SA Self Service
      •Then click on Learner Services
      •Then click on Academics
      •Finally, click View My Unofficial Transcript and print from your browser tool bar.

      -Also bring your records from past advising appointments if you have them.

      -Gain some familiarity with your degree requirements and find out what courses are offered this semester by visiting the websites below.

      [PLEASE NOTE: Always cross-reference the General Education requirements with what your specific school and college states you should take. For example, the University and School of Liberal Arts and Sciences General Education requirement is either HIST 100 or HIST 101. The School of Business states you MUST take HIST 101.]

      For the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences you can print out General Education Audit Sheets to help you keep a record of which General Education courses you have taken.
