How to Obtain Academic Accommodations at UConn Stamford

The Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD) at Storrs works the Coordinator of Disability Services at the Stamford campus, to engage in an interactive process with each student and reviews requests for accommodations on an individualized, case-by-case basis. Depending on the nature and functional limitations of a student’s documented disability, he/she may be eligible for reasonable and appropriate accommodations.

Students interested in requesting services should come to The Office of Student Services on the Stamford campus (room 201) to complete the Student Information Form. Once the Information form has been completed, a meeting will be arranged with the Coordinator to review appropriate medical documentation and complete additional requirements. Prior to the intake meeting, students should print out a copy of the Documentation Guidelines (found at: http://www.csd.uconn.edu/documentation_guidelines.html) to hand to their health care professional so that their letters meet the University requirements.

It is strongly suggested that students make requests before a semester starts or within the first two weeks of class. Some services, such as the coordination of sign language interpreters and requests for books on tape, require several weeks to arrange. Therefore notification prior to the start of the semester is essential and in the best interest of the student to ensure optimal service provision.
